Although the Olympics, Major League Soccer, and most kid's league soccer action are coming to a close, soccer action for kids lives on in the latest version of the Junior Sports Series from Humongous called Backyard Soccer MLS Edition. This software is as easy to master for kids (ages 5-10) as it's predecessors, and young coaches can now choose youthful versions of MLS and U.S. Women's National team superstars such as Cobi Jones, Carlos Valderrama, and Tiffeny Milbrett to play on their team as well as the local gang of neighborhood Backyard Kids that kids have come to know and love in the other Junior Sports titles. As we've said about these titles in the past, it's not just the sports action that draws kids into playing with this software for hours at a time. The real attraction seems to be in interacting with the players. There's an almost soap opera quality about the attachment kids come to have for young soccer hopefuls, and this software packs plenty of surprises with "Power Ups" like the Bowling Ball, which knocks down every player in its path on the field, and the Cannonball, a fast, fiery shot on goal. This is a great way for young players to learn about the game of soccer and about being a member of a team of players, all of whom have special strengths and occasional weaknesses.
