Everyone loves a mystery, and the ClueFinders always seem to be in the midst of one. Now in ClueFinders Search and Solve (The Learning Company/Mattel) it seems they've seen flashing lights from an old, abandoned amusement park. It's an SOS! The curator from the local art museum has been kidnapped and the only way to release him is to get the power working and track down the culprit through the twists and turns of the back alleys at the haunted carnival. Blocking the gateway to the carnival is a clown whose mouth holds a set of grid puzzles that must be completed to gain entrance to the park. Helping a vending machine work out some kinks by solving logic puzzles reveals even more about the mystery. Another way to proceed is by shooting paintballs at one of the sideshows when a sequence or pattern is revealed. At the bumper car wash, patterns must be completed, and blueprints can help detectives repair the generator and power up the park. These are only some of the logic adventures awaiting ClueFinder wannabes, and the software producers have drawn well from the strengths of other titles in this thought-provoking series to create another great title. The program is well paced and the mystery is complex enough to keep kids intrigued and motivated. A second disk full of cool tools for kids is also included. Kids can create their own treasure hunts with the Map Maker; keep track of their busy schedules with the Calendar; record their thoughts in the Logbook; create, encode, and print top-secret messages with the Encoder/Decoder; watch their allowance budget with the Money Tracker; and coolest of all, change the sound of their voice, a dog's bark, or most any sound that can be recorded with the awesome Sound Transformer! A Club Kit for starting a local chapter of the ClueFinders is also tucked in-perfect for the 9 to 12 crowd for which this software is aimed. Another great addition to the Cluefinders series!
