Children's Software Press

Looking for something for your kids to do when they have their friends over or when the weather turns bad? In the spirit of the current game show craze comes the Code Head series from Knowledge Adventure for kids in their tween years (ages 10-14). Tweens are kids caught between being a little kid and a teen, but still ready for something fast paced, mindtingling, weird, and wired. Featuring breakneck, high-energy game play, Code Head: Calculated Risk tests kids' knowledge about math, science, and technology, while Code Head: Extreme Culture poses queries about history, geography, language arts, and more. Questions take several different formats-multiple-choice, unscrambling spelling words, quick math facts, and more-as the clock ticks down. To add to the excitement, the software offers multi-player and live-action game play, enabling kids to play either live on the Internet, challenge family and friends on the same PC, or go against the computer. Similar to You Don't Know Jack (Sierra), a highly popular computer trivia game for older teens and adults, this software takes over the desktop with wisecracks, rad music, and bold graphics (reminiscent of Monte Python). Kids begin by creating an onscreen persona of themselves. The puns and play on words in topic titles grab kids attention as they move through the various game rounds. In this title, the game certainly is the thing, and kids may not even notice that it's educational. A good program for siblings or friends to play together and a great distraction from the Nintendo/Playstation.
