Sesame Street Reading Games Two delightful interactive storybooks involving many of kid's favorite Sesame Street characters set the stage for a series of reading games in Sesame Street Reading Games (The Learning Company), which help kids sharpen their listening comprehension skills. Silly old Grover is at it again in Grover's Travels as he sets out from home to explore feelings and travels to a group of unusual islands. On one island (in a parody of Gulliver's Travels), Grover finds himself tied up until he is rescued by a very young Twiddleputian who follows instructions for untying him and then helps him make the Governor of the island happy by doing a series of silly things. On another island, kids help Grover work with a gigantic Big Bird to form silly rhymes to entice Snuffy to laugh so hard that he blows up a hot air balloon that Grover uses to sail away. In The Three Grouchketeers, King Oscar's favorite musician, the Royal Pig, is missing and he sends Grover, Telly and Zoè to find him. Again, a series of listening games are part of the hilarious action in the story as the three friends encounter various scenarios on their quest. This could only come from the minds at Sesame Street. Besides the wonderful Sesame Street humor, what really makes these storybooks unique is that kids really have to listen-not just look-to play the reading games. Other similar packages are visually driven, so it's fun to see kids perk up and pay attention to what the characters are actually saying. The reading games have two different levels, giving the games a bit of staying power. A set of coloring book pages and pages from the storybook that can also be colored are also available. Grover, as usual, can be a little overly talkative, which sometimes slows the games down to a snail's pace. However, most kids are patient with the fuzzy blue guy, knowing that's just is the way he is. Overall, a very fun set of storybooks and a great way to get kids to "listen up."
