Spelling Counts
Before you turn in your report, it is important to correct the spelling. If your report is full of spelling mistakes, your teacher won't be too happy. Spell checkers can be a great help to you, but you have to know how to spell a word almost right or spell check won't know what word you have in mind.
- Remember to check your work yourself, too. You aren't finished editing when you've finished with spell check. Your spell check won't know the difference between their and there, for example, but your teacher will.
- Keep in mind that your spell check can only check words that are in its dictionary. If it can't find a word you used, it thinks its wrong. Your word may be correct, but you'll need to check its spelling in other places such as Dictionary.com or in a printed dictionary you have at home or school. Ask your teacher or parents for help if you need it.
